Empowering Future Technicians Through International Experience
As part of the Erasmus+ program, two ITS Academy Meccatronico Veneto students, Paolo Maddalosso and Alberto Caichiolo, had the opportunity to gain hands-on training at Gazfio, Pietro Fiorentini’s French subsidiary in Romilly-sur-Andelle. This international learning experience, which took place at the end of 2022, provided the students with practical industry exposure in biomethane technology, automation, and mechatronic systems.
A Hands-On Training in Renewable Energy and Industrial Automation
- Paolo Maddalosso, a student specializing in Computer Science for Industry 4.0, worked in the Transmission & Distribution System Operators (TSO/DSO) department. His primary task involved following the end-to-end installation of a biomethane injection station, an advanced technology crucial for the transition to renewable energy.
- Alberto Caichiolo, training as a Higher Technician in Automation and Mechatronic Systems, gained valuable technical maintenance experience by engaging in real-world operational tasks within the energy sector.
Their dedication, professionalism, and technical aptitude were highly appreciated by their French colleagues and supervisors, demonstrating the success of vocational training programs in preparing students for the modern industrial workforce.
Erasmus+: A Key to International Career Development
While Erasmus+ is often associated with university exchanges, the program also provides vocational students with opportunities for training, internships, and hands-on work experiences abroad. These immersive international programs allow students to:
- Develop industry-specific skills required by leading global companies
- Gain exposure to different working environments, enhancing their adaptability
- Explore career interests in emerging fields like renewable energy and Industry 4.0 technologies
Since 2011, Pietro Fiorentini has partnered with ITS Academy Meccatronico Veneto to provide students with practical apprenticeships. Currently, the company hosts:
- Six students at the Arcugnano (Vicenza) facility
- One student at the San Vito al Tagliamento (Pordenone) site
Each student is mentored by an industry professional, ensuring they receive valuable guidance throughout their training.
Building a Global-Ready Workforce
“Our students must be prepared to work in global companies, and international experience is essential for their professional growth. The fact that our ITS graduates achieve a 98 percent employment rate within two years is largely due to their ability to operate in international environments. Erasmus+ allows them to enhance their technical expertise and apply their skills in real-world industrial settings, just as Paolo and Alberto are now doing.”
— Giorgio Spanevello, General Director of ITS Academy Meccatronico Veneto
