Pietro Fiorentini continues to drive energy transition efforts by supplying hydrogen-compatible ball valves for the development of the European Hydrogen Backbone (EHB) in Greece. As part of this initiative, the company is providing advanced ball valves designed for use with up to 100% hydrogen mixtures, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The West Macedonia Hydrogen-Ready Pipeline
The West Macedonia project, led by DESFA, the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator, features a 163-kilometer high-pressure pipeline for natural gas transport in northern Greece.
- The hydrogen-ready infrastructure will support safe transport of natural gas and hydrogen mixtures of up to 100% hydrogen content.
- It is part of the European Hydrogen Backbone (EHB), a strategic initiative involving 31 energy infrastructure operators working to expand Europe’s hydrogen network and accelerate decarbonization.
Pietro Fiorentini’s Contribution
To support this ambitious project, Pietro Fiorentini will supply hydrogen-compatible ball valves with diameters ranging from 10 to 30 inches. These advanced valves are manufactured by TIV Valves, a Pietro Fiorentini Group company based in Rescaldina, Milan.
